History of the BELAZ enterprise

The Belarusian Automobile Plant, or BELAZ, is one of the world leaders in the production of quarry dump trucks and other equipment for the mining industry.

The history of the enterprise began in the post-war year of 1946 in Zhodino with the production of peat mining equipment. However, already in 1958 the plant was re-profiled to produce heavy dump trucks, laying the foundation for its future glory.

Over the history of the enterprise, over 130 thousand units of quarry equipment have been produced here. BelAZs are the largest vehicles in the CIS.

What is BELAZ famous for?

World recognition

The BELAZ plant is one of the world's seven leading concerns for the production of quarry equipment, supplying its products to more than 80 countries around the world. The company holds approximately 30% of the world market for extra-large-capacity quarry dump trucks.

Record cars

The plant is famous for its giant dump trucks. The BelAZ-75710 stands out in particular – it is the largest quarry dump truck in the world, listed in the Guinness Book of Records. It is capable of transporting up to 450 tons of cargo, and its dimensions are mind-boggling: about 9.9 m high, 20.6 m long and 8.3 m wide.

Technological development

Throughout its history, BELAZ has been constantly improving technologies, introducing innovative solutions in the field of mechanical engineering, which ensures the reliability and efficiency of its equipment in the most severe operating conditions. Thus, the plant has developed more than 500 different modifications of equipment for mining, which are capable of operating in various conditions.

  2. Visit one of the quarry equipment production sites, evaluate the dimensions of the parts and be able to imagine what the assembly process looks like.
  3. You will see the legendary BELAZ dump trucks at the exhibition site. The equipment exhibition is one of the most striking and impressive parts of the tour of the enterprise. On the territory of the plant there is a permanent exhibition area, where real BELAZ quarry dump trucks of different generations are presented, including legendary models with a load capacity of up to 450 tons and even the largest dump truck in the world - BELAZ-75710. Here you can climb onto a quarry dump truck, examine the equipment up close, take photos and appreciate the scale of these industrial giants.
